There is a wide range of Simtech Air drills which can be specified in a number of different configurations to suit arable or grassland direct drilling and the requirements of the farming operation. The models include simple rigid machines, hydraulic folding rear mounted machines and Front/Rear drill combinations.
There are models available with twin metering for grain and fertiliser or multiple cover crop mixtures and additional Stocks Ag applicators can be specified adding further metering flexibility.
As standard the drills feature 3 rows of coulters, certain models are available as a 4 row version to provide superior residue clearance when drilling into crop stubble.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
T-Slot Technology
The inverted T-slot technique ensures unmatched results across all surfaces, soil types and climates. Leading discs pre-slice an opening in front of, and in line with, the tine coulter which places the seed. The disc cuts through trash and slices through any root structure under the soil surface preventing residue from blocking the drill and enabling unwanted material to be cleared out of the seed slot by the coulter.
The creation of a disc slot ahead of the tine also helps minimise soil surface disturbance by the following coulter, preventing weed germination and giving the new seed the best possible start.
The tine and patented Z-tip coulter are centred behind the opening disc so that the front edge of the coulter simply opens up the slot already created by the disc.
The inverted “T” shape of the Z-tip coulter then creates a bulbous slot with fine tilth at the bottom and a narrow opening at the top. By moving a small amount of soil around the seed the Z-tip also mineralises local nutrients making them available to the seedling and assisting establishment.
This “T-slot” provides the perfect environment for the newly placed seed to germinate and start to grow. The tilth at the base of the slot ensures drainage so that the seed doesn’t sit in water in wet conditions and the narrow opening at the top allows the new plant to emerge without allowing the T-slot to dry out in dry conditions. At the same time moisture is retained in the environment created by the T-slot.
The Z-Tip Point
The T-slot concept was first developed by John Baker in 1976 and has been refined and improved by various drill manufacturers since then. The precise shape of the patented Simtech Z-tip has been optimised with the latest metal working processes and wear resistant materials. Millions of hectares of work have proven the design.
Tungsten has been braised onto the leading edge and base of the forged points in key areas to maximise wearing life, minimise down time and ensure return on investment for every Simtech owner.
Tungsten Tiled Z-Tip Points
The forged steel Z-tips are hard wearing in themselves, their working life is further enhanced with a tungsten leading edge and base.
The Disc
The discs are mounted in pairs on a bearing assembly which in turn is mounted on the disc bar. The disc bearing assemblies are internally sprung loaded to provide stone protection. The depth of the disc bar (and therefore discs) is centrally adjusted.
Hydraulic Fan
The large hydraulic fan has a high level air intake and airflow is adjustable relative to product and machine width. Twin product metering systems with two distribution heads are available with a diverter valve which enables every other row to be shut of or to meter different seed types to the same coulter. This can be specified according to customer requirements.
Chain Covering Harrow
Simple and yet very effective. The heavy chain covering harrow may look like a crude solution but is extremely effective at filling and closing the seed slot, albeit not too tightly so that the germinating seedling can emerge.
Discs, Disc Bar & Suspension
The 380mm boron steal opening discs are mounted in pairs on a sprung axle for stone protection. The disc bar has a central adjuster to allow the disc depth to be adjusted according to conditions. The leading disc cuts through trash and crop residue as well as creating a slot to reduce soil disturbance from the tine coulter.
Depth Wheels & Adjuster
Simple depth wheels with an adjuster handle are used to set the working depth of the drill along with the top link to ensure the machine is level. In arable applications an optional Spring Flex roller can be specified.

The key to successful direct establishment
• Minimum disturbance
• Perfect seed germination
• Excellent residue handling
RIGID FRAME MODELS
Pneumatic Simtech drills feature all the same ground engaging components and options as the gravity machines.
The large centrally mounted hopper is mounted close to the machines headstock to reduce the counterbalance required. Single and Twin product metering systems are available with product distributed through one or two distribution circuits depending on specification.
Frame
High gloss powder coated with edge primer to improve resistance to seed dressing and fertiliser.
Loading step platform and lighting kit as standard.
Hopper
1100L standard or pressurised hopper with optional 400L extension.
HYDRAULIC FOLDING FRAME MODELS
Folding Pneumatic Simtech drills feature all the same ground engaging components and options as the gravity machines. The large centrally mounted hopper is mounted close to the machines headstock to reduce the counterbalance required and enable folding down to a transport width of 2.9m.
Frame
Centre pivot wing sections for improved contour following. High gloss powder coated with edge primer to improve resistance to seed dressing and fertiliser. Loading step platform and lighting kit as standard.
Hopper
1700L standard or pressurised hopper.
METERING SYSTEM
Metering Rollers
Variable metering rotor speed and configurable metering cartridges allow Pneumatic machines to be adapted to drill any seed size and mixture accurately.
Controls
Drills are fitted with a Farmscan TM7000 control box as standard which has the ability to control single or twin metering systems as required. The system is simple to calibrate and use, allowing manually variable seed rate application. An ISOBUS version is also available.
FRONT/REAR COMBINATIONS
Front Tank
There are two versions of Front Tank available, a single and a twin metering version, both with 1800L holding capacity. Standard or pressurised versions can also be specified to suit application rates and speeds required. The Simtech Front Tank is a robust, compact solution for reliable seed delivery to rear toolbars.
The system integrates Horizon metering units, a hydraulic fan, easy access tanks, and an intuitive control system from Farmscan. Making it simple to operate, monitor, and calibrate. An ISOBUS option is available for advanced precision farming setups.
Designed with safety and convenience in mind, the hopper features front work lights and cameras for road compliance Sensor monitoring of seed in both the hopper and metering unit is standard.
The Twin metering model is ideal for companion cropping, fertiliser placement, or slug pellet application, with options for single or dual air flow as required. The full-size lid allows for easy big bag filling, while its compact design supports high-capacity operation without compromising maneuverability.
Seeding Frame
Rear mounted seeding frames incorporate all the same soil engaging components as the standard rear mounted drills but with the hopper removed and weight on the front of the tractor provide a balanced versatile solution for direct drilling or late season drilling in challenging conditions. A key feature of these models is that coulters can be spaced over 4 rows allowing improved crop residue flow. This enables the drill to perform well in high residue Direct drilling situations such as drilling into Maize stubbles and cover crops.
